• Uma Sharma

    FOUNDER

Hi, my name is Uma Sharma! I’m a high school student with a love for all things creative. From a young age, I’ve used art as a means of self-expression. It was a way for me to relax, reflect, and connect with others. Art has always been my outlet, especially during stressful times. It’s how I process emotions and understand myself better. I started Colorful Minds because I believe self-expression and a strong sense of identity are important for kids as they grow up—and art is a fun, engaging way to help them explore those things without it feeling like a lesson! I started it because I know how much of a difference it makes to have safe, creative ways to express yourself, especially when you’re little and still figuring things out.

  • Jocelyn Brolin

    PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Hi, my name is Jocelyn Brolin! I’m a high school student who has always been a very creative person: I love visual arts such as sculpture and painting, but I also love performing arts such as dance and singing. I am a big believer that anyone can do art and that it is therapeutic for people of all ages. It’s both a way for one to express themselves and understand their own identity, as well as an outlet to be distracted from their problems. “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” —Theodore Merton.

  • Sophia Josephs

    CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Hi! I'm Sophia Josephs! I’m a high school student working at the Katonah Art Center in the summer and plan on taking AP drawing as a rising senior! I love working with kids and helping them find new outlets of expression as they navigate their early years of development. In addition to my love for drawing, I am a competitive dancer and a catcher for my school's varsity softball team. But most importantly, I can't wait to synthesize creativity and emotions and share my passion for art with the youth!
